Yeah... Lately I've been wondering if there is just a bit too much music in my life.
If it wasn't for the lack of new songs in the show, I think I might have lost it by now.  :o

You might think that such a thing is impossible, so let me explain.

First, I just LOVE the music from the show.  That's why I make the instrumental tracks of the show songs.  However, that is not enough pony music for me.  So I also sing along to pony songs whenever I'm in my car.

I am also a member of the 'SoCal Ponytones', a small singing group who works on singing several pony songs and performs at potlucks and other gatherings.  Eventually, we will be convention-worthy.  Here is a sample of one of our songs: (That's me on the lead vocals)

As if that wasn't enough, I am a complete karaoke nut.  So much that I am competing in KaraokeFest again this year, and am already confirmed to be singing in the finals at the LA County Fair where I will be dressed as Mr. Oggie Boogie from 'A Nightmare Before Christmas'.

But things don't stop there.  Oh no.  I also managed to join the ranks of the 'Masters of Harmony'.  These guys are the best singers I have ever come across, and I'm amazed that I seem to meld in with them so well.  The only downside is that I now have to memorize a good twenty songs, and then perhaps a dozen more around October when we prepare for the Christmas shows.

So...  Do you think this is too much music?
I know... I could probably stop singing to pony music in the car... but it's just so relaxing.  ;D

Song, Instrumental, and Pitch Reference tracks are now on the cloud.

I sync'd it up with the existing .ogg file that was there.

I'll make a better instrumental when a better source becomes available, but the quality is pretty good all considered.

So... one of the guys here in So. Cal decided we needed a singing group.
Here's what we got so far.  Not bad for only a couple practice sessions.

BTW, I'm the guy in the red.

I'm serious.

Claude Monet painted Applejack and Rainbow Dash at the beach way back in 1882.

Take a look

Ok, this one is gonna be complicated guys...

I am seeing THREE versions of the song: Big Mac, Flutterguy, and Fluttershy

Here is some audio to get you guys started... (Regular, Instrumental, and Pitch References)

Big Mac

Fluttershy

(I'm still working on the Flutterguy version)

OK, as most of you guys may have guessed...
I'm a bit of a karaoke nut.

As such, I have countless CD+G discs, and MP3+G songs on my computer... but none for pony songs.

...Until now, that is.

After much time working across programs, and even making a spreadsheet to convert lyric formats (Yeah, I did it in Excel) I am finally able to make a somewhat usable MP3+G version of songs.  I can finally burn these to disc and take em out to my local karaoke clubs.

So, here is 'Smile, Smile, Smile'. (MP3+G)

And here is 'Raise This Barn'. (MP3+G)

Let me know what you think.
Should I make more?

Ok, it's very evident that this song was intended to be a 'sing-along' at best, but I think I managed a little magic.

Here are the music files:  Located in my sta.sh

Included are the standard, an instrumental, and an attempt to clarify the vocals for pitch and tapping.

I swear, the pony who mixed the audio for the Blu-Ray needs to be shot.  >:(

Ok, I guess we can start preliminary work on this one...
Sources are from a camera rip, so we will need to replace these later.

MP3: Audio
MP4: Video

Song starts at 2min 4sec

Pinkie's Counter / Karaoke Season is upon us!
July 06, 2013, 04:32:44 PM
Finally!  ;D

The big season for karaoke is finally here... for me at least.   KaraokeFest starts today!  8) (ends in September)
KaraokeFest is a big karaoke contest that happens in Southern California.

I'd love to qualify using a pony song or two, but the only format that can be used is CD+G.
I've tried looking for converters, but haven't found any that work.  The closest I found was one that looked like it would, but failed when making the actual file.  :o

Has anypony had any luck in converting to CD+G format?

We've got too many good songs...  :o
Today I can't stop singing "Great to be Different" - PMV version.

I must have sung it 20 times, just today.   ;D
I'm up to a score of 8080 on Medium.  8)

Issues and bug reports / Disappearing forum logo
June 28, 2013, 01:28:12 PM
Is it just me, or does the forum logo at the top left of the page seem to disappear on occasion?

Alright, I'm pretty sure this one won't make it in time for release... but I thought I'd toss the files up here for later.
Note: All the mp3 files are sync'd with each other, so you can tap from the vocals file if it is easier.

Lyrics:

Don't trust a word from that evil wicked mare
Stay awake or she'll be in your nightmares

She's the princess of the night
But once was a villain who cause pain and fright
She claims she's reformed but that's hard to believe
That she's strayed from her villainous path

Trapped in her archaic ways
She loves executions like back in the day
Thinking she'd give that up seems totally naive
Now no one is safe from her wrath

I'm not convinced that she doesn't eat fillies
After stalking them in their dreams
Don't let her outward appearance deceive you
Cause she's not as sweet as she seems

Don't trust a word from that evil wicked mare
Though she denies it she's pure evil through and through
Preying on any foal who claims that their not scared
If you're not careful then she might come for you
You had better hope that your dreams tonight are spared
Stay awake or she will see you in your nightmares

Pinkie's Counter / Equestria Girls (Movie)
June 17, 2013, 09:17:24 PM
** SPOILER-FREE **
I don't know if I'm just starved for new MLP, or if the movie/extra-long-episode was really good.

In any case, I really liked it.  There were a few songs in there... forgot to count how many.
I might have to go watch it again just to count...  (Yeah... that's why I'll see it again... to count the songs.)

While the movie wasn't as fluid as a normal episode and it seemed a bit rushed, it did have all the elements of the show that I love.

If you are a fan of the show, (which you likely are if you are reading this) just think of it as another episode.  It is not truly a spin-off like most of us originally thought.

Man, it was nice watching it with a bunch of other Bronies...

Edit: Oh!  I forgot to mention... once the credits were done, we wanted more.  So we all started singing "Smile, Smile, Smile!"

Welcome! / Ok guys... How can I help?
June 02, 2013, 06:39:02 PM
Hiya everypony!

I tried to activate an account over the past two months, but it seems the server won't send messages to my hotmail account.  Oh well.

In any event, I'd like to help out if there is anything left to do.

My useful skill set includes vector artwork (show-style), a little vocal-removal experience, general troubleshooting, and karaoke (naturally!)
