Instrumental is done for this song, and is now on the cloud.

This thing was a total beast.  I think Daniel Ingram doesn't want me reverse engineering his songs, from the way he made this track.  It's not a perfect instrumental track, but quite decent.

I tried to get an instrumental version using audacity, inverting one of the channels and adding it to the other channel. the result was not what I hoped for...

Yeah, that's the correct theory you have there... and in a perfect scenario, it works great.

However, pony music always needs a lot of TLC, and a bit of magic.   And yes, Audacity is the editor I use.

The best tip I can give is... Get the highest quality source you can, and work from there. (I consider an MP3 file to be the lowest quality to use for a source)

Initially I made an instrumental with even the chorus removed... but it had such a nice positional layout that I wanted to keep some of it in.

Man, this song was tricky...
It took a bit, but I managed to pull out the center-ish vocal from the last half of the song leaving the harmony singers intact.

At this point, I think that Daniel Ingram is doing these things just to test me.

Anyhow...

The instrumental, and pitch reference tracks are up.
My version of the song file is called song2.  The start time of the song is different from the existing song file.

Audio is done and on the cloud.

I know I'm trying to polish a turd here
Yeah, it can be done...  with varying results.

I don't have much hope for this song, as the audio in the movie wasn't formatted like other songs.

The instrumental track's volume is... quite lower than the OST version. Should I normalize it, or should it be rendered again?

Oops... My bad.

I'll fix it on my end, since it's best to make these adjustments before the sample rate is lowered to 41khz.

...and done.

Yeah, it's rare when I get instrument-separated tracks.  Most commonly, I only have 5.1 audio to work with.  And lately that hasn't been all that great, due to channel crossover issues.

I'm kinda limited in what I can add or remove to the songs, since I don't have the original mixing tracks.

The closest I could make to a version with just the backup singers would be the actual instrumental track I already made.

Instrumental and pitch reference tracks are done.  Enjoy.

OK, the instrumental and pitch reference tracks are done.

Sorry about the big delays lately.  My chorus has moved into high gear for the holiday season.  I gotta memorize a dozen songs in the next month for our Christmas shows.

I made the instrumental track for this one.  It is now on the cloud.

At this point, I kinda want to say unhappy words to the person responsible for mixing the original audio.  Why in Equestria do they have to mix the center channel into almost EVERY other channel?   It gets annoying having to filter it out all the time.

If you guys still need a pitch reference track for this, let me know and I'll generate one.

<start useless chat>
Just got back in town.  My chorus won by a sizable margin.  We aren't called the "Masters of Harmony" for nothing.
Next stop, International Championships in Nashville in July.
Oh, and due to the nature of the event, no photos, video, audio recordings are allowed aside from the 'official' society recordings.
<end useless chat>

Anyhow, I'll get back to work on this track when I get myself squared away.

I can try, but it won't be until next week.
I've got a chorus competition this weekend, and won't be in town from Thursday to Monday.

Audio for this song is done...

Even with all the bad feels at the start, at least the reprise is uplifting enough to make you feel better afterwards.

All 3 files are there... song, instrumental, and pitch reference.

Full song and the pitch reference tracks are done.
The instrumental is gonna need a lot of TLC to be presentable.
However, this should be enough to get you guys started.

Audio for this one is done.

Note: Due to the formatting of the song, the CMC 'vote for Pip' chorus sections are included in the instrumental.
To make the pitch work easier I added those sections to the pitch reference file.

2nd Note:  I left the banter at the beginning as it fits well with the format of the song as there is more of such in the middle.

I hope the 5.1 version has clean audio tracks for both "sisters".

Hasbro heard you, and so they decided that there will be no 5.1 audio at all this week! We've done our own version, but it might be more difficult to work from it than on the usual iTunes 5.1 track.

I was gonna say, that 5.1 track is a nightmare as far as trying to rip out the vocals.... now I know why.

Well, let me know if you spot a true 5.1 before I do.

Yeah, I'm glad you caught the 'I', and I'm sorry that I wanted to change it before doing a more in depth analysis.

I promise to do some Twilight-style breathing exercises before dashing to lyric changes in the future.
I guess I was just too excited after having a new official song after such a long break.

Oh, and I have no idea about the picture.  I only put MP3's on the cloud... one third of which always get deleted.  ;)

After careful analysis, I agree that Smilley is right with regards to the 'My' vs. 'I' line.  It is an extended sentence, and when put into context, 'I' is the correct word.  Simply put, the word 'I' is in the middle of the sentence, and not the start of a new one.

It's just so darn funny to think Rarity would say that her fashion wants to make her shriek...  but it's just not that simple.
