Hey guys I actually came here not soon after playing the game and getting some help from Smiley on my YouTube channel. I've been looking around your forums for a while and there are some simple and easy songs I'd like to request, but since this is the first forum I've ever used... how do I use the buttons? Like the YouTube button, image button, etc.?

Smilley

Welcome!  :D
BBCode is pretty straight-forward. For videos and images, either click on the YouTube/image icon or type in [*youtube] or [*img], without the *. Next, paste in your link to the video or picture. With Youtube links, be sure to use "http" and not "https". After that, end the input with [*/youtube] or [*/img], again without the *.
If you have big images or multiple videos, please use the [*spoiler] tag to hide them and reduce the strain for people with slower internet connections. Again, open it with [*spoiler], close with [*/spoiler].
For lyrics and - if you ever want to try - Ultrastar notes use the [*code] tag, same as above. This will keep any formating intact, retaining multiple spaces, for example. Also, it takes up less space on the board and is easier to copy/paste.
URLs automatically get converted to links if you simply paste them in. If you want to get fancy and use embedded links, you have to use the following syntax: [*url=www.mylittlekaraoke.com]This[*/url] becomes this.

And if you're unsure if things work like you want them to, simply use the preview button.
Want to try your hoof at making your own songs? Look no further!

Okay thanks! I've heard a few songs recently, (as I'm still new to the brony fandom, didn't even find out about music until I found this game) that I would've liked to request. I would also love to help with the project! I just need to download the right files for me to actually create the text files correctly. I know how to add the other things, like covers, backgrounds, videos, etc. as I started doing that to UltraStar. I'll try to help whenever I have the chance.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually.  Welcome again, by the way.

Sure! It does take a bit of fiddling around, but you'll eventually find a way that fits best your need. There are various tools available to create songs, and various ways to use them, so the process may differ from one another.

Smilley did an excellent job writing down a guide:

This is a method I'd recommend, considering he's way faster than me at creating songs. :P

I'm more familiar with another tool, YASS; here's a quick Youtube how-to that might help:
