I figured out that this is a place for general, off-topic discussion. I hope a small ad for my project is ok - if it's not, feel free to remove this topic.

Hello everypony! :)

I'm dos and I'm an author of Super Derpy: Muffin Attack game.

Super Derpy: Muffin Attack is an free software game available on Windows, Linux and (soon) Mac OS X. At the moment it's simple arcade game with flying Derpy avoiding obstacles, but that's just early stage in game development. At the final release it's supposed to be full featured adventure providing few different game modes, with Derpy rescuing mane six ponies from being trapped by muffinzombies - vicious creatures created by Discord in order to bring chaos to Equestria, so he can escape from rock and rule it once again.

Super Derpy originated from a small university project, but now plenty of people are already involved in it - some of them already known in brony community. Character animations are done by Yudhaikeledai (http://yudhaikeledai.deviantart.com/), author of MLP: Thinking with Portals series. Voices are provided by MEMJ0123 (http://www.youtube.com/user/MEMJ0123) as Princess Celestia (story teller) and Meredith Sims (http://www.youtube.com/Emichwan88) as Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle. Both of them are part of Silly Filly Studios (http://www.youtube.com/user/SillyFillyStudios) and Meredith is also known as Twilight Sparkle from MLP: Fighting is Magic. Game includes music from Dr Dissonance (http://dr-dissonance.tumblr.com/) and Claire Anne Carr (http://claireannecarr.bandcamp.com/) and the latter - author of My Little PonY Rock! albums - will create original soundtrack for the upcoming levels in the game.

(I've created text files for one of Claire's song, and second one is WIP - you can find both in WIP section on this forum)

The first pre-alpha version (called Development Preview) is already available to download (http://www.superderpy.com/download/)

I hope you'll like it! :)

I wanted to try it on my netbook, but unfortunately couldn't - ran into dependency hell with Allegro (Ubuntu 12.04). I'll try it when I'll get the chance on my desktop though!

And I'm probably going to ditch Ubuntu on my netbook too - it just feels too unresponsive nowadays.

Yup, there's a problem with GNU/Linux binaries at the moment - there's no Allegro 5 included, so you have to install it by yourself if you don't have it. I already have infrastructure for building "bundle" packages with Allegro included prepared, so next development preview (should happen really soon) will hopefully work out of the box for everyone (it'll also contain installer for Windows and DMG image for Mac OS X).

PS. Compiling Allegro is not that complicated, there's a nice how to: http://wiki.allegro.cc/index.php?title=Install_Allegro5_From_Git/Linux/Debian (it's for Debian, but should work in Ubuntu too)
