VLC, or any other media player. Look at the timestamp (eg. 2:30), convert it to seconds (150, in this case) and add 3 zeroes (so 150000), give or take a thousand or two. My point was, you'll need this kind of precision on the starting gap, but never at the ending cutoff. They could just as well have used beats, since the game shouldn't end before the scoring begins.
But... *shrugs*... meh. ;)

Looks solid. I'd say you should put the mailing list addresses into BCC, so the answering person hitting "reply all" wouldn't give out all staff e-mail addresses to the submitter. Also, you wouldn't send 2 copies of your answer to the rest of the staff (one directly, one through the mailing list).

Isn't that what the Dropbox folder is for?
EDIT: Urgh, the #END tag is calculated in milliseconds. Couldn't they have picked a more cumbersome unit?  ::)

Imagine my puzzled look, after having to disable the video, what the long outro was about. But I remembered eventually.
We should definitely ask Jan about that, though I guess he'll agree to it. And if the .nfo idea kicks off, they'll get their due credits anyway.
EDIT: While you're at it, could you reformat the vid to the one we use regularly? I think my hardware just can't handle 1080p.

I figured we are all responsible and mature enough that we could share those E-mail addresses among the handful of regular contributers, y'know, so we don't each need one of our own. It'd probably feel a bit less weird than to use a Gmail account that could be anyone's, to make requests for videos, mp3-samples and such. Or maybe that's just me.
We could also run the Youtube account off that E-Mail. About contributing there you'll have to count me mostly out. I couldn't edit a video to save my life, and I don't have that much of a visual creative vein.
As for the feedback mail address, we could either use it as a mailing list, or with each of us simply answering those questions that concern our expertise.
About restructuring the board: is it possible to make certain subboards invite-only? I'm OK with discussing the txt-s on a professional level, but I wouldn't want everyone posting there. I'm afraid it could lead to the threads being spammed, and important posts becoming lost.

Made a few additional adjustments. I was never quite satisfied with the "You do the Pony Pokey" lines during the verse, but now I think I got it right.
#927
Did some tweaks on it, myself.

I've been thinking. We could create at least one "official" MLK E-Mail address, for making requests for fanmade songs and vids, maybe an official Youtube Channel as well.
Once we go live, we could use a feedback E-Mail, as well.

"We shared ...": This is debatable, but when I sing the note's always exactly on that note.
It was my first approach, too, but after a few tries, the higher pitch just seemed better. As said, given the circumstances, a freestyle note might be the best compromise.

Other than that, I'm OK with the changes.

Based on the official group shot posters:
Season 1
Season 2

I had to LOL when I saw the MMMystery "antagonists" in their Pinkie dream sequence costumes, Granny Smith with her army helmet and Vinyl and 'Tavi's antics on the Season 2 pic.

It's not really about the points.
Isn't it, though? First of all, the points represent how well you can hit the notes. Also, it's a game. The score is what most people will see. And the fact that I can get as close as humanly possible to a perfect score means that the song it pretty darn accurate.
QuoteStart up performous where you get to see your voice in realtime, sing it without looking at the screen and then Scroll back with Ctrl+Arrows.
If you sang everything like in the song, you should have hit the beginning of each note.
I tried it, and Performous bugged out several times before I could get the two versions done, so I'll likely not use it as a regular tool.
It is definitely less forgiving than USDX, and it's good to see the actual pitch being sung, but I think it also handles some pitches differently than USDX. That, and my PC can't run it at full FPS, leading to awkwardly misplaced notes, either way.

Also, I'd like to object some pitch changes you've made:
I know that the first pitch of the line "We shared our hopes..." is understressed as is, and it isn't helped that it's swallowed up by the backup choir, but I think the higher pitch (1 instead of -4) comes more naturally there. I could even opt for a freestyle note there, since it's really not all there.

The other is the last "Big Brother Best Friend" line, before the reprise. I went back and realised it's probably sung by two voices, one of which trails off by half a note. I guess one can make an arguement for either.

SO AWESOME!   / )^3^( \

...Ok, I'm done.

Reworked... well pretty much everything other than the text and the BPM.
I wanted to do this for a long time, sorry I waited for it after BUCK.
I'd like your opinions.

EDIT: Fixed a faulty linebreak.

I just played your version against mine, back to back. Got 9790 on yours, 9820 on mine. Haven't really noticed much of a change. Would definitely not call it "serious timing problems". Download Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from Ultrastar-Base. THAT's serious timing problem.
#935
Not as such. The CMD Edition will flag it as faulty and you can see the exact errors in the log, but you can play it both with the normal and CMD Edition. The line will cut off early, loading the new line, though.
Don't know about Performous, but since you can play this song, I'd say no.

EDIT: Fixed it for this song. Took the better half of... two minutes, maybe?

No, not every beat, just every linebreak. Let me illustrate. I just took the first 3 lines from CCR - Bad Moon Rising as an example:

: 0 4 7 I
: 4 4 7  see
: 11 3 3  the
: 16 4 5  bad
: 24 3 5  mo
: 28 1 3 -on
: 32 3 7  ris
: 36 6 3 ing
- 48
: 64 3 7 I
: 68 7 7  see
: 80 3 5  trou
: 83 2 3 ble
: 88 2 7  on
: 92 1 3  the
: 95 7 3  way
- 100
: 128 4 7 I
: 132 8 7  see
: 144 3 5  ea
: 148 3 3 rth
: 151 5 5 quakes
: 156 2 3  and
: 158 4 7  light
: 162 8 3 ning

The lines in italics are the breaks. The bold numbers are those you need to look at. In the first example, 36+6 add up to 42, so there's plenty of room 'til the next line is loaded at beat #48 (actually, a bit earlier, hence the clipping errors in the thread linked above).
In the second line, the last note adds up to 95+7=102, so the linebreak at 100 definitely comes too soon. Since you have more than enough space between the note's end at 102 and the next one's beginning at 128, you can just put the break to something like 110.
If you only have one beat or two between lines, just put the break on the same beat as the next note, otherwise, try to balance it. This is something appearantly neither Composer nor the USDX editor seems to get right consistently, so you have to do it manually. It does add a last amount of polish to the song, though.
#937
Play the song with USDX once and you'll see the problem, I think.
The USDX editor has a bit of a problem recognizing linebreaks, and the player uses them very strictly. The problem's similar than with Composer, and the solution's the same: Open the otherwise finished .txt with a basic texteditor. If it's one line, broken up by squares, edit and save it once with USDX.
Sung notes are coded as follows: it starts with a ":" for normal notes, "F" for freestyle or "*" for Golden notes. After that is the starting beat, then its pitch and its length, and finally its text marking.
EDIT: Actually, the correct order is position, length, pitch and text.

Now look for rows with a "-"; those are the linebreaks. Obviously, their beat count should be at least as high as the preceding note's position + length. Preferably, you should have a 2-3 beat pause between the last note and the linebreak.
#938
Check your speaker sound volumes. For whatever reason, those are set to minimal sometimes when importing MIDIs with USDX.
#939
Gave the song a whirl. Not bad. Interesting that you cropped multiple words into one note during the rap phases. Not a complaint, just something I noted.
Some lines are cut off early, read this for tips to fix it.
Also, my old heap o' junk of a PC totally caved in with the video, 4 FPS and MASSIVE lag. I noticed desyncing with MP4 files with other (non-Pony) songs, but never this much. If you ripped it off Youtube, you could try YTconv.net. Both the avi and MP4 give decent quality.

You could ask Jan, but I guess he'd only do it as a commission.
