game wont open
« on: February 08, 2020, 06:35:36 am »
so, I will try to be as detailed as I can. I run the game and the little window that prompts one to either play the game, or update comes up, after clicking "play game" derpy talks to herself, then my entire computer freezes up for all of about a minute, then the screen goes black, and after about 15 more seconds, I can HEAR the splash page/ menu screen music, but that's it, the game program wont do anything beyond that. I am using windows 10 Pro. I don't know if it matters that I am using a refurbished computer, this thing for some reason doesn even have a built in microphone, or a working webcam... but I am sure that those issues have nothing to do with the program. I just know that not being able to play mlk at home away from wifi is really bumming me out. my only salvation is the ponytones website on my phone.

try this... Within the same folder as My Little Karaoke Launcher there is ultrastardx.exe
right click it and run as administrator..
You might need to right click.. compatibility mode windows 7
Don't run in full screen mode.

Maybe... the problem in full screen mode at that is an easy fix by changing a line in the config.ini (open in notepad)
Split=Off
FullScreen=Off
Visualization=Off
but try the above first.

Must likely the folder will be: C:\Program Files (x86)\MyLittleKaraoke
while you are there check under songs to see if you have them...  Have a plan B

there is also an error log: open in Note pad  and copy the last 15 or so lines  and paste it into a reply.

https://pony.fm/
https://bandcamp.com/tag/brony?tab=all_releases
http://ponyvillelive.com/
https://soundcloud.com/search/sets?q=brony

Of course you don't have the video.

I think I have plan B ready if the problem is full screen mode:
 but I need confirmation on windows 10

Press the Windows key and the R key at the same time, it will open the Run command box
if My Little Karaoke is installed under C:\Program Files (x86) then just copy and paste below to the open box then click ok

"C:\Program Files (x86)\MyLittleKaraoke\ultrastardx.exe" -Resolution 800x600 -Depth 32 -Fullscreen=off

If not at that location then click on browse and find ultrastardx.exe left click once then open
thus will fill in the open: after the last quote add a space and copy and paste after the space
-Resolution 800x600 -Depth 32 -Fullscreen=off

this SHOULD start the game with the parameters given and give you a chance to change the default settings

someone please try the command and reply

This does sound like a resolution issue. I concur with setting "FullScreen=Off" in the .ini config file (within the installation folder) to at least be able to launch the game; alternatively you might be able to use an external monitor for now. Once in the game, you will be able to change the display settings directly in the options menu.

Don't be afraid to experiment: in case something goes wrong, you can just delete the .ini file and a generic one will be created again the next time you launch the game, with default settings.
