Ideally, you should review everything [that you apply]. Find some way to compare the situation before and after the patch more visually, like making a copy of the _entire_ 'Official' directory, apply the patch in only one of them, and then do a directory side-by-side comparison.

And this only fixes things within the .txt itself, in the ultrastardx logs I also noticed that there are a bunch that reference non-existing videos (which isn't too much of an issue, since it'll just use the background instead) but I like to keep the logs clean, so there will probably be a second patch for these at some point.

I didn't touch any encodings to my knowledge, but hence the need for a review/check. Remaining encoding issues are probably because the file itself isn't UTF-8 or something.

I noticed some songs actually crash USDX (any English Acadeca duet for example) and Ultrastar Play was also complaining about a bunch of other issues, mostly things like where the linebreak cuts through a note, but there were also some more creative ones like notes that were in the completely wrong order within a sentence.

So I made this big patch for the songs in the "Official" directory. Go to your 'Official' folder and apply the patch:

Some things to note:
- I started this before I changed my workflow (which has much better BPM's)
- Especially some of the chorus parts (where they sing "In Our Town, In Our Town") still feel really weird
- Didn't include video, sometimes they're okay but I don't think it adds anything to the experience here. Of course the MLK people can always get it themselves.
- Sound is synced to the YouTube version, but you will probably want to get the Bandcamp version or something instead (again, this would have probably fixed the BPM problem, but I'm not going to redo it)

I'm not sure if this really counts as a MLP-related song or even a Community song, but hey, Neon Pegasus is in there and I was going to work on Breakfast Burrito instead but I needed something short and easy to test some stuff with (remind me to make a post about my workflow sometime) and then this happened.

* Artist permissions (unless the CC BY 4.0 means we can skip this, besides I have no idea where to contact any of them anyway)
* There are some golden notes sprinkled here and there, but feel free to do whatever with them. Same goes for the freestyle ones (though I do like how some of the freestyle currently double as quick "oh hey I can breathe for one second" breaks)
* Video is currently the YT webm with the sound removed. Beware of the VIDEOGAP in the txt when converting/editing the video. If not editing the video, we'll probably need an END thing somewhere to prevent that half-second of credits at the very end.
* General note checking (pitch/start/end). Be especially on the lookout for:
- I was not able to test this on Hard. On Medium I average around 8000 points, but there are some near-octave-jumps in there that I just can't keep up with regardless of the difficulty, which makes spotting the off-by-ones difficult.
- "But hey" and "I'll be okay"
- Some notes that I split across two tones (some of the ~) might in reality need to be made a singe note again, or vice versa.
- Rarity (the part between Dash and Fluttershy). Something feels off for me there, but dunno if the txt or my voice is to blame.

And finally, when all is done, don't forget to make the txt for the instrumental of course, but I trust the MLK team will be able to handle that (the instrumental mp3 is already included).

Sorry for the really late reply (because... I didn't get an email notification of it, lol), but yes, these past few weeks I haven't experienced the issue.

This isn't anything related to the game or the MLK songs, but the forum.

Sometimes, it takes very long to load. This is especially bad the first time I open it.

The problem is this URL that gets called:

Especially the first time, it takes over 40 seconds to respond, and during that the tab icon remains spinning etc. In the response headers is also something that says it "expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT" which is not useful at all.
It (eventually) returns a 1x1 gif.

Googling around suggests it's some kind of thing that makes sure the emails get sent, but I'm not sure why it takes over 40 seconds. Not sure if it's easy to fix or can be fixed at all (don't bother looking into this more than a few minutes) but if it's something easy like the mail queue being full of failed email to dead email addresses, just clear it and edit those accounts to never get an email or something.

This song is too difficult for me (to code). I got until about 10% of timing the notes, but even those are probably off by some margin because of the magic of speaker delay. It's just not fun to work on the insane amount of really short notes, when O(speaker delay) > O(length of note)

NB: the above link is NOT a finished song! At least the following issues still remain:
- There's a lot of very short notes in this song (for example: 'the' or 'of'). General pitch checking aside, check these especially.
- Feel free to replace the artwork. The cropped background is currently in a non-optimal resolution.
- Check extract.sh if you need the AC-3 audio to make an instrumental version or something, but beware of syncing issues (the wav-hack is in there for a reason).
- You will probably want to recode the video (or just extract it yourself from the original and encode that)
- You will probably want to do something about the mp3 volume (or the lack thereof, lol)
- Golden notes: there are some, but feel free to adjust

This was a really fun song to work on, and I learned many things from it.

Some remarks:
- Check the pitches
- Some notes might need to be split, joined together,  or have their beginnings/ends tweaked
- I got ~9250 on a Medium test run, so either I made the song too easy or there's just no point in me optimizing it any further

- One of Spike's lines is now deleted completely (it was the rap line anyway)
- Spike's other line is now normal again
- Some linebreaks at the end were removed ("Das Wetter, das Essen" and "Die Musik und die Farben")
- More pitches adjusted, I'm really not sure on the second to last syllable (the "Mo" in "Harmonie") and anytime "ge" is sung.

At least I can get around 8500 on Medium without really trying now, any further tweaks will probably be overoptimization on my part.

Personally I just use a regular installation of Ultrastar and some scripts to get the stuff.

Just put the script in .ultrastardx and it _should_ work. Or just use Renard's links, it's a one-time operation anyway.

For the newer updates I've written a small Python script, again put it in .ultrastardx, change the WORK_DIR variable and run it, it will take care of the rest. I run it regularly (it wil not redownload what has already been downloaded, just don't ever remove the mlkbeta.cache file).
