UPDATE: I update the version in my above post. The #LANGUAGE tag was missing.

4EB recently released two albums full of instrumentals (go get them, they're fantastic), and Stay (the 2018 re-record) was one of the tracks. So here's a new version that contains both versions:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/124Uucqo1FFbtT5xy7BZu_TtGcXxZ3DHG/view?usp=sharing

I've taken the liberty of:
- also replacing the regular track with the bandcamp ogg, so that GAP is the same for both
- added a proper background, which is a resize of https://derpibooru.org/images/1502189
- removed the video for now because these versions are timed differently and I didn't want to mess around with VIDEOGAP. If someone wants to add them back, files are in reply #1
- did some cleanup/capitalization in EDITION, ARTIST and TITLE

(I didn't change any of the actual notes)

4EverfreeBrony just released not one but two albums with in total 60+ instrumentals, As The Thunder Roll By is one of them: https://4everfreebrony.bandcamp.com/track/as-the-thunder-rolls-by-instrumental

There's two things that immediately jump out to me when singing this:

  • The pitches are very confusing. I think they are actually mostly correct (at least within a semitone, ie Medium), However, maybe I'm singing it wrong, but sometimes it seems things are an octave too high or too low. For example, in the second sentence, "off the" is probably an A, but shouldn't it be lower than "cliff?" instead of higher? There's many occurences of this throughout the song
  • There's a fair amount of notes that should either be split, or at the very least, the syllables aren't the same tone. Examples of what I meant are "time" in sentence 13 "One more time" (part of "ti" feels like A#, not A) or "soaring high" in sentence 30 "The black blur soaring high"
Especially the first one makes it incredibly hard (for me) to sing this one. I'd have to try singing it without looking at the screen, maybe I'll do better then.

There's also some places where probably both are happening at the same time, for example the "Well" in sentence 42 "Your friendly neighbour Mare Do Well" (I'd need to dig more into it, but it sounds like A#, not B, and it's definitely below the "Do" C)

I can't really comment on the timings, I don't feel like I'm losing massive amounts of points on them, but I lose so much due to point 1 anyway that it's hard to quantify.

I originally freestyled the little foals' lines, and there's probably also some bits and places where notes will need to be shortened/started later (so many unsingable letters in this one, especially the 's'). There's also a few places where things might need to be split into two notes, or recombined into a single one.

ABOUT THE LYRICS:
In the little foals' lines, it sounds more like "tonight" (twice), but according to the episode transcript, they say "to bite". It doesn't help that there's like 3+ voices at the same time there, so have fun with this one.

ABOUT THE YEAR:
the mp3 has 2015 as year, but pony.fm had it submitted in 2013. But it might be even older? I don't know. Worst case, just omit the year entirely.

Sources:
Audio: https://pony.fm/tracks/9851-spooky-pony-skeletons (there's only a vbr mp3 it seems... hence a 320k mp3 recode and not ogg)
Cover: https://derpibooru.org/1741327
Background: https://derpibooru.org/2130240

ABOUT THE BACKGROUND:
Technically Rosa's more Coven of Blood here than Society of Bones, but there are also some skeletons in there. Not sure if aside from that this background is all that suitable for MLK anyway, but one of the songs in Equestria at War is a (much slower and instrumental) version of this very song, and this song = Dread League, and there just isn't much art of that. But feel free to replace it with some less-ominous cute Skellinore or something. Or try to do something with the huge image on the Pony.fm page

Contains both regular version and the instrumental.

Someone will probably want to adjust the timings here and there (when notes start/end, because I can't seem to get more precision than 1-2 beats) but other than that, should not be a huge undertaking.

Wel it's been two months and so far no answer, so I'm just going to put this here without cover or background art:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AgxkVN04RJpOGjWMFz7AqNR3PCypvcdU/view?usp=sharing

ogg from bandcamp (p@d ignite album)
it probably needs some more golden notes but >8k Hard on this one shouldn't be too difficult to achieve

Sorry this took forever again (I'm noticing a theme here) to get to. Made a lot of small changes, it's still not perfect: timing-wise I can't make it perfect anyway, but there's also some notes that I'm not sure if I should have splitted them or not... Regardless, I'm getting >6500 Hard / >9000 Medium now:

Sorry this took forever to get back to. In short:
- The freestyle sentences being gone make a huge difference, that section of the song works so much better now
- Timing has noticeably improved

There's probably still a lot of tweaks that could be done to this (Yass will at least yell about linebreaks) but the overall song is definitely taking shape now. I don't know the song all that well (normally, at this point I can dream the song) but even messing up two or three lines completely it's not difficult to get above 8500 (on Medium)

I can hopefully take a closer look the coming days/weekend, and also double check the pitches while I'm at it, but atm I can't really promise a when.

Can someone ask Velvet or Mane In Green about the background image used in this video?:

Unless someone has a better idea for a background image (and cover crop), I'd like to use that one, but I've contacted them on Deviantart and Derpibooru respectively, but so far have not received a reply. Twitter is probably faster or something, but I don't have that.

Because other than artwork I've had this song done for almost two weeks already.
(please also leave a message in this thread so that they don't get flooded by half a dozen people or something, lol)

IT'S FINALLY DONE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fTbM3RB4I5l5qa0lJlyMC8M3rS6y6nLa/view?usp=sharing
Well, there's probably still some small tweaks, but I'm getting consistenly around 8500 on Medium, and I won't get much higher than that due to my voice. There are some things I also consistently sing 'wrong' so either those pitches are incorrect, but I think it's more that my voice just doesn't like them.

Renard, you'll want to at least double check:
- pitch of "pens" and the second (=last) "friends" in each chorus
- there is one word in CAPSLOCK somewhere, in the first verse I believe: STUBBORN. The official lyrics have "calling" there instead, but it sounds like a 's' is in there as well, so I always hear 'stubborn' or 'stalling'. I think the timing and pitch is fine regardless of what is chosen, but I'm just not sure what to put on screen there
- timings/pitches around the golden "faaaaaaaaaast" (you'll know it when you see it)

I've (tried to) follow your advice about 1/2-length notes and space between syllables and words and linebreaks, but there are places where the song was just too fast etc.

Video's currently 1080p, but bitrate isn't that high.
Background is https://derpibooru.org/2175269 (obviously, feel free to change if you find something better)

PS: beware that if you're going to use Yass (ie, mp3) that GAP is probably different than the current ogg!

I started this like, ages ago, typed out my own lyrics, because back then the Bandcamp page didn't have any lyrics. Thankfully the Youtube version had lyrics in the description, so it gives at least some baseline. I didn't need to change much, just little things here and there.

125 sentences (and many of them not particularly short either). I need to do an easier song next.

With pitches: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lWKtqCyp-hoTnAIK_MKzdhkfXisdtrFG/view?usp=sharing
There's a few pitches that I'm still a bit onsure of, but the majority of them should be good.

NB: I did not touch any timings, except when I split a note in two because (I think) it was spread across two pitches. Did some test singing on Hard, not the greatest scores (around 5k, should be higher on a slower song like this*). Part of that is due to me having to "octave switch" at certain places, but the notes are also quite close together and in some places the timing feels a little bit off (enough to be noticable but close enough that it might be on my end, hence me not touching any timings yet).

Also, the "freestyle sentences" with the parentheses around them (towards the end of the song) were really distracting during my test singing. They go by very quickly, and there's a sentence directly after them. I left them in for now (linebreaks and some long sentences will probably need to be tweaked anyway) but I think I would just remove the freestyle sentences completely.

And no, I didn't mean that the Bandcamp version (or which video, or even what background/cover) has anything to do with developing the song, because it doesn't**. I meant it more as a "if this is to be released at some point, those assets will probably have to be updated, might as well do it now". But I usually first collect as many assets as I can before I even start, mostly because otherwise I will probably forget :D for now this is fine.

* this is still miles better than the average (non-pony) txt found on the internet
** there appears to be a GAP difference between mp3 and any other format. But especially if you're using Yass, you're kinda stuck with mp3.

Nice! This one has been on my personal todo list for a long time.

And maybe you were going to do this anyway, but:
- I can provide directly-from-bandcamp ogg for a release version (or any other format if that's easier to develop with) if it's needed. (going by the metadata of the mp3, I assume the current source is youtube? (which is totally fine to make the txt with))
- Background can be 1920x1080
- I'm not really a fan of these kind of videos, but have some youtube-dl'd ones (no audio) in 1080p or 720p: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UKmz5z_zAjhcaTtSxZP0fEpwJ-M6M8Re/view?usp=sharing

I'm calling pre-emptive dibs on this one:

I already started working on it well over a month ago, but I wasn't going to post it here until there was a Youtube release anyway. I had hoped to finish it last weekend (didn't know then it was going to premiere today) but stuff came up so I'm not entirely happy with it yet (~8300 on Medium is not "good enough").

And hopefully there will be lyrics somewhere because there's one or two sentences that I did almost certainly wrong.

I'm not sure om some of the first notes of a verse line; some of these are currently freestyled, some aren't but might not be right either. Video is currently 1080p but given it's only 25MB for almost 6 minutes, that shouldn't really cause any issues, and if it does, well, there's a reason there's a static background (720p would be around 9MB).

Finally, a version of this song that I actually like! (nothing wrong with the other one; I just don't like it)

Background is currently https://derpibooru.org/images/705909 but feel free to change that, eg the one from the non-concert version, or some screencap from the Argodaemon's Remembrance video, or just look for 'immortality blues' on derpibooru.
Cover and ogg are from le bandcamp

txt was at first taken from the version already in the game, BPM upped to 422.6 before I decided that was a bit too much and multiplied everything with 0.75. And then a bunch of changes of course, though some parts (especially the last few lines) were barely touched.

Unlike some other 4EB songs, this one has the 'feature' where pretty much every other sentence has a note that is either too low for me too sing or too high, depending on what octave I'm singing, making it frustratingly hard to test for me.

Background: https://derpibooru.org/images/119972
Cover: https://derpibooru.org/images/98693 (or alternatively, use https://bronikoni.bandcamp.com/track/keep-the-beat-alive-2018)
ogg directly from bandcamp

txt is based on the one already in the game, but BPM was doubled (and slightly modified) and some notes were edited. I didn't change any of the golden notes. I like both the 2013 and the 2018 version, but I've always hated the way some of the lines in the 2013 txt were split up.

There is this one line composed entirely made of golden notes, that one really needs timing corrections (it's very hard to hear what is what, so I just gave up on that one)

(Renard your tips were sometimes difficult to apply here. I did shorten a few notes here and there to make Yass a bit happier, but there are places where it's just not very possible)

I can't even remember the last time something relatively unrelated showed up in my YouTube recommendations and it wasn't some dumb monetized video on lawn care or something. Whether this recent development is a good or a bad thing, eh, that's your choice.

Artist was kind enough to share the background (thank you, SiMonk0), so without further ado:

Some (long) notes might need to be shortened by 1 beat, otherwise this is very much done! Sadly, no instrumental track for this one.
