Issues and bug reports / Re: Computer Build
« on: January 20, 2020, 10:29:21 pm »
No real issues here running the game on a used [urm=https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?id=898]i7-3770T[/url], using just the iGPU. Although not benchmarked, this is the "low-power" setup I use at conventions, usually on two dedicated 1080p screens (using "screens=2" + "split=on" in the config.ini file, and keeping OS background services in check to avoid usual annoyances). Requirements aren't that high, but may change slightly once Ultrastar Play comes around (we're still looking for coders, btw). Non-x86 systems such as ARM boards might likely be decent candidates by then too!

Also, keep in mind that the game only spans on two monitors at most (3 players per monitor, 6 players max).

You want to aim for a system capable of decoding 1080p h264 video streams smoothly, and with decent single-threaded performance. At this point in time, that leaves you with a lot of cheap options! So you do have a bit of room when it comes to picking components, and could relatively easily aim for a very small form factor build easy to carry around.

When it comes to microphones, you'll need one audio input per player. The Singstar USB microphones and the Rock Band / Guitar Hero ones work well for the task, since they bring their own built-in USB sound cards, negating the need to add more internal expansions to your build.

So here we are
The last goodbye
If only I could find some perfect phrase
To make you laugh
To make you cry
To bring you joy before I fade away
But in the end
We're just pretend
Some fleeting thoughts before the dark of sleep
But I can feel
So I am real
So let's escape before we're in too deep

So take
Me back to where it all began
And if you wait
Then you will hear it all again
The innocence in my heart
When I had all my life ahead
But every song that we start
It has to end

Woah,
Raise your hands just one more time
Woah,
I'll see you in some other life
Woah,
The atmosphere is raining light
Woah
I'll see you in some other life

We're setting sail
Across the sky
The constellations they will be our guide
And suddenly
Our promises
Are just a melody that slipped our mind
But maybe we
Will meet again
When all the stars align a path someday
But as we are
The scattered stars
Are spreading us across the Milky Way

Life's a party
Pounding in a heartbeat
That's all I know
But if you
Listen real close
Every beat will heal those
Scars on your soul
Cause oh,
Life it hurts but
In the end its worth it
Joy through the tears
The years
They say goodbye
With memories that try to
End all your fears
End all your fears

Woah,
Raise your hands just one more time
Woah,
I'll see you in some other life
Woah,
The atmosphere is raining light
Woah
I'll see you in some other life

Oh I
Am sailing on
I'm Sailing on
Goodbye
To all I've known
To all I've known
And I
Will wait for you
I'll whisper out across the galaxy
"I'll See you soon"

Issues and bug reports / Re: Problem with installing 'A Kirin Tale'
« on: November 16, 2019, 09:58:50 pm »
Hello! This is a bit mystifying. Could you try deleting the ~/.ultrastardx/cover.db file and try again just in case?

Do you have any kind of crash log when launching the game from a terminal?

Song requests / Metajoker - This Feeling
« on: November 05, 2019, 08:49:19 pm »

In the end, it was easy for my life to break
Every choice that I made was another mistake
But a second chance takes all the world for a turn
One more chance to entrance and to love and to learn

And wo-oh, the world will be free
And wo-oh, you'll be with me
I use to wonder what friendship could be
Now you're here to share it with me

(Chorus)
This feeling is taking me over
This feeling that I can't deny
'Cause through all the pain and the crippling loss
It's so good to know I'm alive
And I won't give in to the sorrow
And I will not rest till I've won
And I'll make a brighter tomorrow
And give you the world when I'm done
And I'll leave you the world when I'm done

Broken hearts can restart
See the light in the skies
Looking into the truth in the depths of your eyes
No more sorrow
Arriving at some better place
Finding home in the heart
And the smile on your face

And wo-oh, the world will be free
And wo-oh, you'll be with me
I use to wonder what my life could be
Now you're here to share it with me

(Chorus)
This feeling is taking me over
This feeling that I can't deny
'Cause through all the pain and the crippling loss
It's so good to know I'm alive
And I won't give in to the sorrow
And I will not rest till I've won
And I'll make a brighter tomorrow
And give you the world when I'm done
And I'll leave you the world when I'm done

This feeling is taking me over
This feeling that I will be free
Cause through all the pain and the weight of the world
It's so good to know you're with me

(Chorus)
This feeling is taking me over
This feeling that I can't deny
'Cause through all the pain and the crippling loss
It's so good to know I'm alive
And I won't give in to the sorrow
And I will not rest till I've won
And I'll make a brighter tomorrow
And give you the world when I'm done
And I'll leave you the world when I'm done

Song requests / The Wasteland Wailers – Friendship from Fire
« on: November 05, 2019, 08:42:50 pm »

Paradise it seemed
Was a memory in glass
Never washing clean
As the long years pass

Clouds choke the Sun
She longs to see her children
It would not be undone
Without your courage given

Though the fires
Scorched the skies and seas of paradise
You would climb to reach the night
As the winds of hatred bite

Though they broke our world
And they burned our bones
On top we’ll build our homes

So much that we lost
Entombed in dust
On those graves we’ll stay
And in love we’ll trust

Rain strikes the ground
Like warm tears slowly falling
From her eyes to the earth
Can you hear them calling?

Though the fires
Scorched the skies and seas of paradise
You arose to be the one
Where the wolves of hatred run

Though they broke our world
And they burned our bones
On top we’ll build our homes

I manually move the topics when the songs are released, but I've had very little time to clean up the forum lately (unfortunately) and have been fully focusing on the song files. You did the right thing by posting here. :)

This is indeed not normal. I know that USDX handles it, and it fact Smilley made some creative use of the idea before but I rejected it: this isn't standard and we have no way to know how other game engines, past, present and future will handle the situation. This indeed needs to be patched. Thanks for the feedback!

35
Adjusted pitches and finally got around to releasing it. Thanks a lot! :)

Late reply, but the reasoning behind the #VIDEO warnings is two-folds:
- In the early stages of development, we usually tried to use a header template. All karaoke engines are expected to fallback on the background image in case the video is missing (which is quite common with "light" packs distributed elsewhere, for which the original videos were simply deleted before redistribution) or if the video is present but can not be played (corrupted file, missing codecs or performance issues).
- It was supposed to makes things easier for us during updates. If a new video was created for an existing song, we could just drop the new file in place without having to overwrite the TXT.

37
Wow! That's a lot of fixes here. I'm going to try and review some of that before applying the patch, but still, thank you for that work. I do notice there's still encoding issues with at least French (eg: 1361 1 32 t). Also, I've never experienced any crash with Acadeca so I'm a bit surprised about this one, but eh :)

38
Released, by the way :)

39
Thanks! Will look into it. Just a note regarding BPM: don't hesitate to crank it up (ideally you want to land on a multiple of the song's actual BPM but in the 300 to 400bpm range), and words need to be separated into syllables (eg: "co-lor-ful").
